“Walking Dead” Season 8 spoilers below .

Look, Carl Grimes had his troubles. He was a little on the emo surface, his long “hairs-breadth” “ve been a little” much and he had been able to aimed a artillery with the erroneous gaze. That’s exactly risky, man.

Regardless of these quibbles, the inevitable loss of Chandler Riggs’ character on “The Walking Dead” — after it was revealed in the Season 8 midseason climax that he suffered material zombie bite — was regrettable for the devotees and the cast.

“Walking Dead” chief content officer Scott Gimpletold HuffPost he had a tough time in accordance with the fatality reveal, and now, in an interview with HuffPost’s Taryn Finley, “Black Panther” actress Danai Gurira, aka Michonne on “Walking Dead, ” is opening up about her reaction.

Michonne was basically Carl’s ass-kicking, sword-wielding, surrogate father on the depict. The two were close. You have to be to share sugar saloons and scavenge for cat prowes in the holocaust.

Gurira says she was “absolutely devastated” to lose that relationship.

“Carl and Chandler are a sanctifying to Michonne and to Danai, you know what I convey? I admire Chandler, and[ for] Michonne, Carl is her healer. Everything she and Rick do is to protect Carl, so this is kind of the worst nightmare realized for him to divulge[ the bite] at the end of the last escapade, ” Gurira said.

“These are exceedingly imaginative people who do everything they can, ” she computed. “Rick and Michonne don’t actually stop easily. What do you do when that’s what you’re confront? So, yeah, I was ravaged. Michonne was devastated.”

The good word for Gurira is Carl isn’t run yet. There’s still a chance to say goodbye in the next incident, which has yet to air.

However, any hope supporters had for Carl’s survival was pretty much deleted when early reviews for the midseason premiere had reaffirmed that Riggs was a goner.

But, hey, it was a good operate. Carl got to rock a cowboy hat, wear an eyepatch, and snack dessert. If you dismiss the super discourage constituents, that sounds like a pretty solid holocaust.

If anything, devotees can expect more unpredictable storylines from here on out. Carl is still a crucial reputation in the comics, so the show’s deviation from the source cloth could transport “The Walking Dead” in all different kinds of guidances as other people slip into the planneds Carl can’t.

It’ll be bumpy for Michonne, but hopefully her cat skill can get her through.

“The Walking Dead” renders Feb. 25 at 9:00 p.m. on AMC .
